Hi there, welcome to Kaapio Acres! We are are so happy you are here!" Let me introduce you to us. I, Deena and my husband Ward are the owners here at Kaapio Acres. And we are extremely excited to share with you, our new adventure with our nigerians! We are now located in Nappanee Indiana, in the heart of Amish country.  A huge Thank you to our good friends at Fairland Farm, Dawn, Greg, and their daughters Gabby and Regan for letting our goats browse their pastures for a bit.

I would like to share some facts about us that we hope you will find interesting. There are two questions that we are asked frequently, "Why Kaapio?" and "What does it mean?" Our farm was named in memory of our heritage, some of our family members came from Finland. Kaapio is the finnish word for Dwarf. Kaapio Acre's was established in 1995, although we started raising miniature goats in 1994. We had decided that with ten acres, we had plenty of room to share. In came our extended family, a couple of Nigerian Dwarf dairy goat kids and a couple of Pygmy kids. Within the first year we had formed a love for the Nigerian Dwarf, and knew that this was the breed for us. So we found good homes for our Pygmys and proceeded to work with the Nigerian Dwarf, learning all we could about them. Nearly 18 years later, and a couple of changes in locations, we are still at it and the goats are doing an awesome job for us!

We have come a long way since we first started breeding Nigerian Dwarf dairy goats. We have accomplished much over the years....

We have taken our nigerians to many titles and even a few National titles. As recently as this year's show season, CH/MCH/PGCH Kaapio Acre's Black Pearl has won the AGS 2011 National Champion Sr. Doe title as well as permanent champion titles in ADGA, AGS and NDGA. Kaapio Acres HH Honey Dew won the 2011 AGS National Reserve Champion Jr. Doe title. She has also chalked up a Best in Show Jr. Doe win against the big girls! CH/MCH/PGCH Gay-Mor B Lacewing's Parsley and CH/MCH/PGCH Kaapio Acres Scarlet have earned their permanent Champion titles in ADGA, AGS and NDGA. To our knowledge, they were the first among a very few Nigerian does to accomplish this in 2007. Kaapio Acres BB Red Butt'er won his AGS National title in 2003.  CH/MCH/PGCH Gay-Mor B Lacewing's Parsley has also won her NDGA National Champion Sr. Doe title in 2007 along with CH/MCH/PGCH Little Tot's Estate Callilily who took the NDGA National Reserve Champion Sr. Doe title home with her. We have several animals with either Champion, (ADGA), Master Champion,(AGS) and/or Permanent Grand Champion, (NDGA), titles. Black Pearl won Best Jr. Doe in Show in 2008 at an ADGA sanctioned show. Quite an accomplishment considering she was competing against the full sized dairy goats. Our animals have also won many Grand Champion and Reserve Champion rosettes along with Best Udder awards at the shows. We've placed three does 1st, 3rd and 5th in Michigan's 2002 DHI Awards and Moondancer placed well in the "2002 American Goat Society's Top Ten". We consider ourselves blessed and are very thankful to be able to see all of our work come to fruition. Although many of our foundation animals are residing in their new homes, we will never forget them or how they performed for us over the years. They will live on in their offspring here at Kaapio Acres and we are thrilled with that fact!

There are always new and exciting things happening here at Kaapio Acres!
